Barkriver Canoe A2 Black and Gold Elder Burl.
A classic design from the early 1900's, remade stronger and sharper and with Barkrivers classic A2 tool steel. The Classic marbles 'Canoe' was a very popular knife in the early part of the 20th century and Barkriver have taken the original design and upgraded it to a full broad tang (with screw end cap to retain the essence of the original) making it stronger and more functional as a modern day outdoor knife, but retaining the quality of the original design.
The 2016 Bark River Canoe is very unique. The original canoe knife was made from 1903 to 1922 by Marbles. In the Marbles line, it was replaced with a shorter blade version of their ideal. Not only is this knife rarity, but we have really made some changes that are totally new. Our good friend Jim Nowka came up with the concept that it could be made full tang. The original was hidden stick tang. This also gave us the opportunity to address the handle length. The original had a very short handle and was the only complaint folks back in the early days had with the knife. The new 2016 Canoe is a historical pattern that has now been improved for efficient use today. This new version is light, fast in hand, and razor sharp. It will give you a lifetime of service.
