19 January 2015, Lausanne – The new LifeStraw® Steel water filter has won the prestigious ISPO Award for 2016/2017 in the Outdoor Category.  It was named as the Gold Winner in the Outdoor Category by ISPO, the internationally renowned sporting goods industry award.

 

How to use:

The patented LifeStraw is a small tube with specialized filters inside. Place one end in unfiltered water and suck the resulting clean water up through the top. Anyone who can use a drinking straw can easily use a LifeStraw.

Before use, uncap the LifeStraw and hold it upright in water for a minute. This allows the water to creep up the filter membrane. Then do five quick sucks and the water will flow easily. When drinking from muddy water, you may have to blow back down into it to purge out the turbidity if the flow slows or stops.

 

When you use the LifeStraw for the first time, place the straw in a tall glass of water for about 10 seconds. This will prime the filter. After 10 seconds, give it 5 quick strong sucks and water will flow normally. After use, blow back into the straw to purge all remaining water, leave both ends uncapped and store in room temperature. 

 

 The LifeStraw will not desalinate water.
