RWL 34 is a Martenistic Stainless Powder Steel, it is an extremely high end steel offering top end edge retention, corrosion resistance and wear resistance. However it is relatively easy to maintain and sharpen and this combination is why some people consider it one of the best knife Steels ever made. Its is, by the way named after Knife making legend Robert Loveless, his middle initial being W, so RWL.
